So we wrapped up the awards last night! 3 weeks earlier than last year, so I hope everyone that wanted to take part was aware of the early deadline.
I thought I’d share some of things brand founders wrote in their emails this year, we’re all aware it’s not the easiest year economically and the world news has been brutal lately.
So it meant a lot to read some of the personal comments and feedback about the Awards. I haven’t had time to ask them for permission to use them (it’s 7.30am the morning after the midnight deadline) but here are a few I cut and pasted to share with you (scroll down).
WISHING EVERYONE WHO IS IN FOR 2023, THURSDAY 2 MARCH, GOOD LUCK!
You have to be in it to win it as they say and it’s an inspiring mix of world class green brands, very successful indie brands who are bordering mainstream now, popular niche brands, brand new launches and even very small brands – with just one one or two products.
I’m really going to enjoy looking at every website, I read the ingredients and backstories (even if it’s a brand I’m not personally judging).
Speaking of which – as boxes are still going out to judges – thank you to this year’s panel for being on board.
The two words that came to mind yesterday looking ahead to the awards are “strong” (entries) and “positive” (in spite of the doom & gloom news).
The vast majority of these brands are strongly heart-led. That’s the elusive yet highly authentic “human” USP 99% of the big “corporate umbrella” brands will never have, however hard they try to position themselves.
Heart-led is the magic of life and the secret ingredient in beauty, it’s not on the ingredients label but you can feel the love.
Wishing you a love-full weekend! Here’s some of the feedback from yesterday’s emails to me:

“I think the BSL Awards for 2023 are going to be even more important for all the brands with the economic climate and how people are choosing to spend – for me I have heard so many friends talking about products that have a BSL Awards label on the packaging – I definitely hear the awards and products talked about so much.
