It’s been an unpredictable, unsettling year. And this week has been a wild ride so far.
There’s so much going on at the moment.
But the key…is how we handle it all. So one of the things I’m going to do this winter is ‘bring as much light in’ and shine as much ‘out’, but without getting depleted.
My glowy little white gold Christmas lights are going up this weekend – I might just leave them up all winter!
I feel like we should shower ourselves with heaps of self-care, especially now, as the UK goes into lockdown and emotions in the US are so tense.
This week has been a crazy one here, with entries for the 2021 awards closing tomorrow, Friday 6th. As I have been telling the brands who have entered so far, there is a really good energy around these awards this year – it’s so upbeat. It’s extraordinary. Really uplifting! And not really what I had expected – I thought things would be a lot more low key but it feels like we are all fed up of 2020 and ready to move on and look forwards!
The trends coming out on the lead up to our annual awards in March 2021 are really quite beautiful, I am still struggling with my arm injury but I do want to write about them because they’re quite different trends – I haven’t really seen them covered yet in the media – and beauty is swerving in the right direction that’s for sure!
This crazy week has made me thought about quite a lot of things.
Life…is about supporting and encouraging others, it’s not about competing viciously and trying to put others down through fear or jealousy or insecurity.
The most important messages can be got across in a gentle voice, there is no need to shout. There is no room for tantrums or big egos in the world right now, our first priority must be our health and collective mental health – and the well-being of our planet.
One of my mum’s favourite sayings was “let’s just agree to disagree then” – it worked every time. (It was like a magical cue to take a deep breath, forget the whole discussion and make a cup of tea!)
Tip: Important conversations are often best resolved while walking in nature, you can see why that would be the case.
The official explanation: Wikipedia
Agree to disagree” or “agreeing to disagree” is a phrase in English referring to the resolution of a conflict (usually a debate or quarrel) whereby all parties tolerate but do not accept the opposing position(s). It generally occurs when all sides recognise that further conflict would be unnecessary, ineffective or otherwise undesirable. They may also remain on amicable terms while continuing to disagree about the unresolved issues.
And one of the quotes that I think I love more than 99% of all quotes is this one:
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” Martin Luther King Jr
Wishing you a safe, positive, battery-recharging November.
