Quite a lot to look at this month! From Dr Lipp’s new not-just-lips CBD Balm to brand new brand SALTEE, it’s always a good thing if there’s a flurry of interesting “earmarkable” arrivals to brighten up November. Starting with:
1. New brand SALTEE’s excellent SPF might not feel season-appropriate now in the UK but I’ve tested it so earmark this for your next sun worshipping session. Superb absorbtion, light and beautifully scented.
SALTEE’s hand sanitiser has become one of my top picks too. My hands really suffer from all this virus-triggered handwashing and this ultra-comforting gel smells so good someone asked me what perfume I was wearing. Brilliant if you’ve been chopping onions or hate that alcohol smell.
2. Here comes colour…! DR PAW PAW’s new Hand Creams have landed – and extra marks for the pretty joie-de-vivre branding.
3. BySarah London’s first ever launch quickly became a huge favourite with face oil fans and the two sisters behind the brand have added another hero to their organically-expanding range: a new Raspberry Seed Cleansing Oil. My favourite fruit in a beautiful eco-friendly amber glass bottle.
4. EARTHWISE BEAUTY was a big Beauty Shortlist Awards winner last year (ENTRIES CLOSE on November 6 this year!). Founder Ava has just launched her new IMHOTEP’s BALSAM FACE MASK, one to check out if you’re an ardent fan of face masks that are genuinely transformative.
5. So we heard DR LIPP has been busy in the lab during lockdown 🙂 His new CBD MULTI-USE BALM is 100% natural and I’m *really* loving the Beetroot version (in a beet-coloured tube, not shown). It’s uber-glossy and a juicy natural medium berry shade. This tube is going to run out fast, I’ve been using it every day. Or you could use the transparent version (shown) over a more matte lipstick to add shine. Importantly, this is not specifically a lip balm, so use it anywhere and everywhere that needs a little Dr Lipp love. Lip gloss is one of the best makeup boosts for older women. Although dramatic bold mattes are tempting to wear, I think they are hugely ageing – particularly if you’ve ‘passed the 50 mark’.
6. If you loved OLVERUM’s iconic bath oil, this new RESTFUL SLEEP PILLOW MIST is worth earmarking (especially if you’re not keen on lavender). This is a very close match to the bath oil, scent-wise, and I’ve been using it as a room spray – not just at night.
Side note: I AM a big lavender fan so if you are as well, Universal Soul’s 3-in-1 STILL pillow/energy/room mist is my current favourite of all the pillow mists out there. Universal Soul’s candle (very similar) is heavenly.
Olverum’s Pillow Mist is so prettily boxed that if you’re giving it as a gift you can totally forget the wrapping paper…I love this brand’s branding.
7. Lastly…but not least, Jo Malone’s JO LOVES Pomelo is my favourite scent of all of her brilliant range and now there’s a hand sanitiser and hand lotion duo – both squeezed into the same tube! Clever. But that’s Jo. A fragrance architect, creating exquisite, difficult to make 3-layer candles and signature scents which somehow have the ability to connect us so strongly and immediately to beautiful places, moments and emotions that they’re literally “transportive”… If you are a citrus fan, Pomello will really float your boat!
On this note, don’t miss the boat this year…entries for our 2021 Awards have been coming in thick and fast over the last 5 days or so.
So if you have an all-natural beauty, grooming or health brand and haven’t entered yet but plan to, there’s a link to the entry form on Instagram or click on the AWARDS tab on the home page or you can ENTER HERE.
Last week, we announced the launch of the inaugural Beauty Shortlist Eco Awards and a number of beauty and health brands got in touch with questions.
The most frequently-asked question has been:
“Are these new Eco Awards part of the BSL Awards?”
No. These new awards are 100% independent and stand-alone.
Not limited to beauty, they encompass fashion, environment, health, food, home design, home products and much more – as well as beauty of course.
I think these awards will become increasingly important in recognising those making a crucial difference, across sectors such as:
Forestry management/Plant-A-Tree
Ocean & Land Conservation
Pollution Solutions
Plastic-Free and sustainable alternatives (we’re already seeing quite a bit less plastic among entries coming in for the Beauty Awards, actually – so, a promising sign, but much improvement needed).
Waterless Beauty
Zero Waste & Zero Trace (eg home compostable products)
Eco Packaging – watch this space
And more.
For specific info on these new Awards, please click on the new green ECO LIFESTYLE AWARDS award logo below or on the home page.
ENTRIES for both the Beauty/Grooming/Wellness and new Eco Awards will be closing on Friday 6 November – and the all-important SAMPLES DEADLINE is 11 November, so please don’t leave it too late or you may miss the 2021 boat.
Looking at the brands that have already entered, I can safely say this is going to be quite a spectacular year, there has been such a good energy around these awards, very positive, very upbeat, very hopeful – very much looking to the future and moving forwards.
So I just quickly want to thank everyone who has sent in personal notes about the awards, I cannot tell you how excited the judges and team are about 2021.
If we could showcase and celebrate a lot of the beautiful brands that have already entered – right now – we would!
Wishing you a happy NOVEMBER Here’s to keeping strong, safe, well, grateful and “on an even keel” as much as possible, amid everything going on…x
