9 GLOW-UP GREEN BEAUTY FAVOURITES FOR AUTUMN

Summer is sliding into autumn here in the northern hemisphere (happy spring to our Aussie friends) so it feels like the time to dive into beauty’s glow-up heroes to add more light to the months ahead.

As some of you know, I have tennis elbow (which got better really fast and then flared up big time last Tuesday when the Beauty Shortlist Awards opened for 2021). I am not able to type and have to dictate everything, it’s annoying and getting very boring now hearing my own voice all day.

Anyway I’m sorry not to include links and prices in this post because of my right arm, but what I can (still!) do is recommend all of these picks first hand, except for the first which I haven’t tried:

Trilogy’s Vitamin C polishing powder – but I like the key ingredients which are rice and Vitamin C and, mixed with water, it activates into a foaming milk to exfoliate dead cells.

Korres’ Morello lip glosses are ultra shiny and give a subtle plumping effect, I have two of these in neutral shades. This is one of my favourite lip glosses at the moment. Poli orea (very pretty) as they say in Greece.

Eco by Sonya’s Invisible Tan up next (a Beauty Shortlist winner)  – and the perfect summer-into-autumn self-tanner

Australian brand Eye of Horus’s palettes are beautiful. (See pic) I’ve been using the (black) Love and Light highlighting palette in the last couple of weeks and love it.

Top right is The Organic Pharmacy’s Skin Perfecting Highlighter for a more “lit from within” look (really like this brand’s skincare).

Up next, another BSL winner: Madara’s Cosmic Drops.

Buildable and high on highlighter factor (go slowly though) it comes in 4 stellar shades and the dropper bottle feels like it will last light years.

The one I use is Cosmic Rose:

AMLY’s Day Light Super-Fine Face Oil (another Beauty Shortlist Awards hero). Too many face oils fall down because they’re just too…oily – particularly if you’re using one during the day. AMLY’s formula is just super: plant-packed dry oils with an aromatherapeutic bonus along with anti-aging Fireweed .

I love Fireweed, Epilobium angustifolium, it’s such a vibrant, pretty, wild looking medicinal plant with plenty of diverse anti-inflammatory and healing properties – uses include (to name a few) oral care/gum care, nappy rash and as a poultice for wounds and infections.

Lastly, “one product does lots” French summer beauty icon Nuxe’s Huile Prodigieuse rounds up today’s picks…brilliant for face, arms, legs and hair.

If you’re sad to see summer go, and haven’t ever used it, this is a field of gold in a bottle.

I think think autumn is such a vibrant time for beauty with all the new launches, much as I personally miss summer and the longer sunnier days.

Much like spring after a long hard winter, when summer bids goodbye and autumn approaches, there’s all the expectation of a brand-new season – and all the kitchen-and-sofa comforts of earlier evenings.

It almost feels like autumn – in all its stunning foliage, newly crisp mornings and cosy evenings (candles!!) – takes over from summer in the blink of an eye. Suddenly it’s:

Strawberries out, blackberries in.

T-shirts out, warm pull-ons on.

Sandals back in the wardrobe (sob), but out come our favourite boots made for walking…

Like some people, I see words in colours, except thinking about it now it’s only some nouns – days of the week, months, places for example. (Greek is mid blue, Italy is cherry red, Portugal is a sandy yellow).

There is a long official name for this. I see June in a bright lipstick red, July is deep raspberry, August is a golden yellow and September is a beautiful glowy coppery bronze. October is dark brown but not a depressing brown more of a chestnut brown, and November is a very dark crimson with just a hint of purple plum. December is darkest charcoal, almost black. January is another red, February is a slate grey, March is a grey-pale blue and April is butter yellow. (Useless info really).

Wishing you a ‘glowy September’, with all the good NEW energy,  grounding root veg and delicious berries that this brand new season brings us x
