Things that make you go “Ooooh!” Yes, after a long, and in Britain’s case shorter and not so hot summer, beauty’s most exciting season is virtually upon us. So cue the new lip and nail shades, forest candles, Mount Everest hand creams, comforting night balms and sparkling winter palettes! With autumn only a stepping stone away, here are some of September’s new launches worth a closer look.
TOP ROW – L to R
- Crabtree & Evelyn’s 6 new Everyday Wellbeing collections have arrived – and each of the ranges inspires a different mood/benefit – Uplift, Soothe, Calm, Energise, Hydrate or Nourish, with gorgeous-sounding blends like Rosewater & Peppercorn, Lavender and Espresso and Citron and Coriander…
- Cowshed gets a cool new catwalk look thanks to Athens-born, London-based fashion (or “vache”-ion?) designer Mary Katrantzou
- And PUR Minerals’ My Little Pony Movie Palette has landed, much to the delight of unicorn lovers.
MIDDLE ROW – L to R
- Aussie natural makeup brand Neek Organics has just launched Kiss Me Kissme and Mystify, two new lipstick colours (these will be landing in the UK in September). Shade shown: Mystify.
- Cuppa and a catch-up? Organic Cornish brand Inlight Beauty have a brand new Herbal Tea Fusions range out, in 4 different blends, perfect for cooler afternoons and cosying up by the kitchen table for a tea break. If your concentration flags by 3pm try the Energise & Sparkle blend with elderflower, peppermint and ginsent, with a touch of rosemary for a natural mental boost. 100% organic and zero caffeine. Serve hot or chilled.
- Marc Jacobs Beauty’s Eye-Conic Multi-Finish palettes (in different colour plays) are long-wearing eyeshadows in 7 different shades per palette – including velvet, satin, silk and lame (accent on the “e”!).
- Yes we’re excited about this one…bareMinerals launches new BAREPRO Performance Wear Liquid Foundation SPF20, the brand’s newest foundation, designed to improve the look of skin over time and also provide 24 hrs coverage using a special long-wear technology that mimics the skin’s natural lipids so the formula adheres to your complexion from the minute you step out of the door to the moment you’re ready for bed. Pore-blurring, oil and fragrance-free, these are hypoallergenic, water, sweat, heat and humidity resistant and come in 30 calibrated shades (including the much darker end of the scale – yay!) We like the idea of the papaya enzymes and bamboo stem extract in this new formula (which helps the soft-focus/blur effect). RRP £29. At Debenhams from 24 August, then nationwide in dept stores and selected salons and spas from 7 September onwards.

BOTTOM ROW – L to R
- The wonderfully clean Clean Beauty Co. have two new launches which are just out . A mist, and this one, their magical looking Detox Dust. What is it? Possibly your next new face mask. Vitamin-enriched with activated charcoal and kaolin clay to pull out toxins and all the bad stuff including dead, skin-dulling cells, there’s also a sprinkling of lovely plant and root-powered ingredients like Siberian ginsent, lotus seed powder, palmarosa oil and blackcurrants give it a nice, fruity antioxidant punch, too. How to use: Mix a teaspoon of the detox dust with a few drops of water, oil, honey or natural yoghurt to form a paste then apply to clean skin, leave on for 10 or 15 mins and take it all off with warm water and a cloth, to reveal fresher, better, detoxed skin.
- Natural shampoo fans will be happy to see Purepotions‘ two new hair care launches for September – their Hair & Scalp shampoo and conditioner, designed for scalps prone to irritation/psoriasis/etc. There’s a Scalp Oil to go with these, which contains tea-tree, borage and rosemary and the star ingredients in the shampoo are calendula and chamomile while the conditioner is infused with oats and help seed oil.
- ESPA has flown the flag high for excellence in British spa/skincare and amazingly, they’re celebrating 25 Years of ESPA this year. Whoop! To mark the occasion, they’ve launched four Limited Edition ESPA sets with huge savings. Which set to choose? The sets are: Art of Layering, Ageless Beauty, Pro Skin Wonder and Balancing Act, priced between £50 (Balancing Act. for combination/oily skin) and Ageless Beauty, at £78.
- Also in time for autumn comes divine Budapest spa/skincare brand OMOROVICZA’s new Midnight Radiance Mask. It’s a 2-3 times a week mask (apply a thin layer overnight then cleanse as usual the following morning). What’s different about it? Omorovicza says: “Formulated with active ingredients, Sand Lily and Salicylic Acid, the gel texture melts into the skin, gently exfoliating whilst promoting cell renewal and fighting hyperpigmentation. Stubborn discolouration seems to vanish whilst hydration and oil levels are balanced, revealing a brighter, smoother, more even-toned complexion”. Omorovicza’s products are what I’d classify as genuinly transformative, so if you’re in the mood for a bit of an investment buy (£90) to sort oily-acting skin or hyperpigmentation, you may want to get your hands on this new offering, which was designed for oily/combination/normal skin. Here are the key ingredients and what they do best:
- Salicylic acid, also known as Beta Hydroxy Acid, exfoliates the surface of the skin leaving it smooth and soft; it also enhances cell renewal and improves pigmentation issues.
- Sand Lily reduces the size of dark spots by inhibiting the production of melanin.
- Red Alga and Sodium Hyaluronate lock in moisture during sleep and provide long lasting hydration.
- Copper Gluconate regulates the production of sebum
- Omorovicza’s patented Healing Concentrate™ delivery system leaves skin firmer, more supple and younger-looking.
