SAY HELLO TO M. PICAUT: THE SWEDISH BEAUTY AWARDS WINNER THAT’S WOWING ME NOW

You know when Simon Cowell goes  (after a standing ovation performance): “You know….? (pause)…this is why we do the X Factor”. Well – ditto The Beauty Shortlist Awards.

One of the brands really floating my boat this month is Swedish eco-luxe skincare range M. Picaut.  But first, a little about its founder, Mette. In her words, taken from the website www.mettepicaut.se, her’s the “About Me”.

Founder and all round lovely person

Mette Picaut was born in Gothenburg in 1967. She worked abroad from 1989 to 2000 as a model, mainly in Tokyo, but also in Scandinavia, Paris, Madrid, Hamburg, Athens, Milan, London, USA, Hong Kong and Australia. Mette is also trained in art school, as an acupuncturist (in traditional Chinese medicine) and has studied four semesters of nursing education. Today she is married with two children and has a passion to highlight what increases the beauty of everyday life and everything that is created with love and care.

At first look, M. Picaut looks clean, pure, botanically-powered and very “cocoony”, and guess what? One of the hero products is her Calming Cocoon Cream (the one in the round tub), which is so comforting it could almost appease a wailing baby.

Favourite new moisturiser: second from Left (in a lightweight plastic pump)

This balm-like barrier cream is a winter bodyguard and I’ve been applying the Calming Cocoon Cream last thing at night and loving the results. The main ingredients are based on an advanced bio complex and include organic avocado, coconut oil, wild yam and natural phytosterols.

If your skin flakes and falls apart in dry, cold weather, I’d venture to guess this would work like a dream.

I’ve (also) been loving the Glorious Green Foaming Cleanser (shown above – yes it really is foamy, foam cleanser fans) – this one won Facial Product Of The Year in the Swedish Beauty Awards 2016 and it’s obvious why. It left my skin looking baby fresh (OK “baby” is a stretch but let’s say significantly, obviously fresher than it’s looked in a while, and very, very soft! I’ve been using this product for 5 days now, less time than the moisturiser) and my skin feels super-clean but not in the least bit tight.

Here’s what M. Picaut says about it:

“A sulphate- free silky foaming cleanser with Cucumber juice to calm, refresh and to add glow and Lemon Myrtle and Sea Buckthorn balance and cleanse the skin with natural anti-inflammatory properties. Gently removes impurities without disturbing the skin’s natural barrier.”

I wish I had time to go through almost all of the range (you’ve been spared!!) because I’ve been using the moisturiser and serum for a couple of weeks now (we test skincare for 28 days for the Awards, whenever possible, so I’ve still got a couple of weeks to go).

So which has emerged as my favourite so far? Funnily enough, it’s the one I gravitated towards right from the start – Mette’s Skin Perfect Moisturiser. My skin loves this (it’s suitable for all skin types including sensitive) and it reminds me a little bit of REN’s Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream, which also contains omega-rich Sea Buckthorn and shea butter. This product also has apricot kernel oil, coconut and rosemary extract along with more…

It:

  • Stimulates the creation of collagen
  • Contains a maximum, optimal dose (3%) of lipo-peptides
  • Moisturises and can be used day or night or day and night and is allergen-free

I’m hoping M. Picaut will land in the UK soon, I’m loving it.

Well done!
