Too much sun, too much sea salt…and that “agh!” hair destroyer chlorine never help summer hair. But here are 4 things that will (sifted out as winners in this year’s, or previous years’ Beauty Shortlist Awards by a judging panel of ten, so we’ve tested them and can vouch for the fact that they work)**
In no particular order, here’s why each of these worked for us big time, and why, if your hair’s crying out for some therapy this month, these are definitely worth investigating further.
MILKSHAKE INCREDIBLE MILK 12 EFFECTS
What does this not do? Make toast in the morning. This cocktail of wondrousness styles, detangles, smoothes, repairs, eases frizz, fortifies, adds gloss…the list is endless. This was a huge (HUGE!) favourite with the judges in March’s awards.
Fruit nutrients like Papaya and Rasberry, Muru Muru Butter and Milk Proteins all clubbed together, creating something quite magical.
It’s not available at that many retailers other than Milk Shake’s own site, Beauty Bay and Amazon (just had a quick check!) but here’s the AMAZON link, fyi. Fantastic reviews on Beauty Bay and Amazon (not surprisingly). I was just Googling this product and reading the reviews – pretty amazing feedback, nice to see that.
DR ORGANIC HEMP OIL RESCUE SHAMPOO
This is an interesting unisex hair rescuer, which improves hair density, helps boost growth – it’s a wake-up call for hair, basically, jammed with organic plant extracts and herbal ingredients that synergistically work together to fortify hair.
LIZ EARLE BOTANICAL SHINE NOURISHING HAIR OIL
This one probably needs no introduction – it’s got Daikon Radish Seed Oil in it (to boost lustre), coconut oil and an ancient ancestor of the Watermelon in it. You just need 1-2 pumps and if you apply it to damp hair it can help speed up blow drying and add brilliance. Or, use on dry hair to tame hair that loves to fly away #grrr
OGX’s KUKUI RANGE
Oh…hello?!! I’ll never forget giving this (the conditioner) to a friend who has the most gorgeous but totally untameable, flyaway, wild hair – imagine a beautiful woman in her thirties with crazy red hair climbing a hill in Galway on blustery day…that sort of hair (hope you are not reading this xxx name withheld!!)
Anyway, after two sessions with this conditioner, my lovely friend with untameable hair cancelled her deep conditioning hair appointments every month, saving herself a small fortune. We then got the chance to try it for our Awards (and we all agreed with her in the end). Brilliant, affordable stuff.
So hair you have it.
Have you tried any/all of these? All are excellent but the Milk Shake Incredible Milk raised the roof when we judged it so if you’re veering towards trying it…go for it!
A Note About Our Awards (you can see this year’s categories and how to enter on the link to the 2017 Awards page in our home page links – right at the top) and this year we are accepting pre-entries as of THIS WEEK (9 August onwards) before the Online Entry Form goes live on 1 September, to help us process the flow of entries – contact Hannah for more info (her email’s on that page and also our Instagram page too).
**RE. THE AWARDS: As (almost) everybody knows by now, our Awards are 100% independently judged with no allegiance whatsoever to any brands and no money is involved (other than an entry fee to cover our admin costs) which is the whole point of running awards, if there were any hidden tie-ins, credibility would be “nil”! And they’re not “voted for” awards either, which I feel can end up skewed for any/all of a number of reasons. I really do think that properly tested entries, individually ranked (by judges who do not know/communicate with each other) is the way to go.
This is why, purely because the judges’ ranking sheets decide the ultimate winners, you might sometimes find a small start-up from Cornwall wins over more established brands. We sift and sift until we get to the final shortlist, then from that shortlist the winners emerge organically.
