A host of new discoveries mushroomed out of our annual awards last month and quite honestly, the chance to test so many products over 4-5 months without a single allegiance to any particular brand is pretty priceless. It gives the judges an eagle eye view of the beauty market “as it is now”, sifting through brands, products, comparing sunscreens, facial oils, cleansing brush systems, you name it…whittling everything down to just the final 3.
Susanne Kaufmann, now in the UK at Liberty’s, was a refreshing brand to look at. Her spa-centric range is “investment priced” and plant-powered and we liked the skincare a lot but what completely blew us away was her Cell Protection Sun Cream – dual purpose, for both face and body. The texture is divine, like a luxe body lotion, it smells much better than most sunscreens on the market but the clincher is it actively moisturises and protects beyond the remit of UVA/UVB protection, thanks to ingredients like tomato extract, broccoli seed oil, echium and jojoba oil.
SPFs, like serums, are among the fastest-advancing beauty products around and this particular one is a great example.
Like Sisley’s sun protection it’s top end price-wise, but if you can splash out, this is one worth looking at and you’ll like the texture if you’re going to use it on your face, it’s not in the least bit cloying and there is zero “white” zinc-y residue.
