Every time we judge the Beauty Shortlist Awards, there’s a recurring theme: more often than not it’s the celebrity facialists who come up with the most exciting skincare launches and Su-Man’s new range proves this – yet again. (And if anyone understands skin types “hands on”, it’s an expert facialist).
Su-Man: Dancer, Shiatus practitioner and now A-list facialist turned skincare pioneer
She also happens to be Juliette Binoche’s favourite facialist while her intuitive, intelligent east-meets-west technique has made her a legend in skin guru circles.

Her method has been described as “pilates for the skin” while ELLE mag described her luxe Velvet Brightening Serum (a finalist in the 2014 Beauty Shortlist Awards) as ‘liquid rose petals’ – deliciously comforting, silky soft and engineered to ‘up your radiance wattage’.
The skincare market is a massively crowded space right now, and while finding a product that works for a while is one thing, finding another which delivers cumulative effects the longer you use it is another. And it’s on this front that Su-Man’s Awakening Eye Uplift delivers.

Dragon’s Blood, made famous by Rodial, is a star ingredient in Su-Man’s Awakening Eye Uplift formula (it’s a resin/sap from an extraordinary tree that dries rapidly upon application, “sealing” skin with a protective layer if you like). It does a nice job as an anti-inflammatory agent, also stimulating the growth of human skin fibroblast cells, synthesising collagen and healing cells.
One unusual looking tree! Dragon’s Blood
“Have a love affair with your skin and you will transform it beyond recognition. Life changes your skin, now change your skin for life”
– Su-Man
As Su-Man points out, “the eye area is the most expressive part of our face, it shows early signs of ageing which means lines and wrinkles” (rather like our hands give away our age compared to other parts of our body) and Su-Man recommends doing her at-home facial HERE once a month in your twenties, and weekly from your forties onwards.
Amazingly, Su-Man herself is 51 but looks at least a decade and a half younger (a tour de force herself, she’s currently touring Asia) and when all is said and done, perhaps one of her best tips is that skincare should be a ritual and not be a chore.
“Have a love affair with your skin”, she says. We couldn’t have put it better.
