Daniel Sandler swears by Collagen Shots and we first tried the anti-ageing drink over two years ago and decided to revisit it recently to see if “still worked”, as it definitely impressed us the first time around. So much so, it was a Finalist in this year’s Beauty Shortlist Awards. (For Best Beauty Breakthrough).
The “Shot” part is 10g of powder, which you mix with liquid as a daily drink (ideally before bed or during the day on an empty stomach) – to be taken once a day.
Rejuvenated has revved up Collagen Shots this year, adding Hyaluronic Acid to the formula. HA is arguably skincare’s biggest superstar, it’s on so many skincare products labels now, we’ve lost count – it’s important because it helps skin attract and hold moisture so it plays a pivotal role in delivering that look-well-feel-well “dewy” look to skin. The rest of Collagen Shot’s ingredients are Marine collagen (side note – not suitable for anyone with a shellfish allergy), acai berry, vitamin B3, vitamin B5, vitamin B6 and vitamin C.
OK now for the “Collagen 101” bit. Collagen type I exists in connective tissues and skin and it’s vital for maintaining skin tone, keeping it supple and “elastic” and non-leathery. In fact that leathery ‘too-much-sun-in-Benidorm’ look is the result of collagen destruction from the sun’s rays (i.e. sunbathing without broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection). And smokers beware, because smoking also saps collagen production, too-many-fags-in-Benidorm…?
Anyway rather scarily, after the age of 25 our ability to synthesize collagen plummets a rate of 1,5% a year and the age of 45 collagen levels can have fallen by as much as 30%.
The third time I personally tested Collagen Shots, a couple of months ago, I found some slightly dry patches of skin (on my feet) cleared up while taking the drink but even more visible was the effect on my face – I looked more rested, my skin looked a bit more “plumped” and, yes it sounds like such a cliche – younger.
If you’re thinking “hmm..time to try a beauty on the inside supplement”, even if it’s just for a couple of months as a “skin booster”, I’d say this anti-ageing drink is definitely worth a trial run.
