Even after all these years, every time there’s a new Jo Malone London cologne launch, we get more than a little excited…and now along comes Osmanthus Blossom just in time for early summer.
Known as the less romantic-sounding Tea Olive in China (where they make osmanthus tea and the flowers are used to make osmanthus-scented jam), osmanthus absolute is one of the more expensive fragrance components in the perfume world.
Sweet, delicate, creamy and apricot-peachy, it isn’t as well known in the west as other flowers used in fragrances, but Gucci Flora, Hermes Osmanthe Yunnan, Michael Kors by Michael Kors, Marcela Borghese Il Bacio and Roger & Gallet’s Fleurs d’Osmanthus (clue is in the name) are some of the fragrances osmanthus shows up in. And when it shows up, it’s usually in something very pretty and quite special. Perfect for a British summer.
