No posts for a few days following our 2013 Awards as it was so busy there was barely a minute for anything else, but now that the whirlwind is over, here’s British candle brand True Grace’s Classic Candle in “Lily” – a ridiculously pretty scent for spring and a possible odds-on favourite for spring and summer weddings.
It’s a gentle explosion of hyacinth and cyclamen (full scent notes below) with a barely-there base of amber and musk which we couldn’t discern at all, but is probably there to give Lily its staying power. In addition to the Classic Candle (above), Lily also comes in small (one wick), medium (4-wick) glass bowls, as a tin candle and in a round hat box-style gift set (in the pics below).
The Scent – Lily. No52.
True Grace says: “A delicate posy of our favourite flowers. Cyclamen, hyacinth, rose and trailing jasmine with tiny white heads, all tied up with pale pink velvet ribbon and given to a loved one”
- Top Notes Hyacinth, cyclamen, galbanum
- Middle Notes Jasmine, rose, ylang ylang
- Base Notes Musk, liquid amber
- Made in Wiltshire from natural rapeseed wax

Lily is the only candle fragrance we’ve tried so far, but if you’re the sort of person who comes home with a hyacinth pot for the kitchen table at the first sign of spring, chances are you’ll love its fresh flower scent.
True Grace’s other “Spring” candles include Vine Tomato, Green Fig, Fig, Wild Lime, Lemon Tree, Grapefruit, Iris and the intriguing-sounding Cucumber.
