Dom De Vetta and Julie Massé’s new fragrance and candle brand Shay & Blue isn’t just new, it’s one of the most exciting launches in a while. And one of the most exciting postal deliveries of the year, so far. A beautifully wrapped bottle of Blood Oranges arrived yesterday morning, cocooned in smart pale cream and blue paper in a very smart blue box. (Which Pantone colour is it? It’s stunning and duskier than it looks in the pic.) No doubt Shay & Blue’s distinctive blue boxes will become as much their trademark as Tiffany’s bright turquoise and Jo Malone’s cream and black rimmed gift boxes have, over the years.
So. Blood Oranges? Can a citrus-based scent be darker and more sensual than the lighter and brighter citrus scents we love so much in spring? A cross-breed of exotic pomelo and fresh clementine, the first hit of Shay & Blue’s Blood Oranges is delicious, fresh and juicy, then it starts to get interesting – darker, deeper, richer. We’re talking uber-modern, surprisingly sensual, decadent and distinctively different.

About Shay & Blue
Dom De Vetta has created this new brand (2012) to recapture the lost quality of the great, classic perfumes (and has come up with a thoroughly modern take on fragrance). He and Julie oversee the seasonal harvests of flower and fruit crops in the perfume capital of the world – Grasse – in the South of France…May rose in May, white narcissus in June, lavender in July. Jasmine in August, then in autumn come the cassis berries and limes, while winter “blooms” include delicate mimosa and juicy blood orange.
