FROM NO MORE TEARS TO NO MORE FEARS? J&J removing harsh chemicals from products by 2015
In a monumental victory for the Breast Cancer Fund and its partners the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, Johnson & Johnson has announced that it will remove toxic chemicals linked to cancer and other health problems from its cosmetics for kids and adults, across all J&J-owned brands, worldwide, in the next few years.
The company plans to reformulate its baby products by 2013 and its adult products by 2015. Previously J&J had committed to making baby products safer by removing potential carcinogens in its products, including its global best-selling J&J Baby Shampoo, but the brand had not made any promises about reformulating its adult products (see: “No More Tears” – The Beauty Shortlist April 4, 2012)
We really hope J&J will now lead the way for what we call “cleaner labelling” which is really just about “cleaner formulas” and this is very encouraging news.
